Blyth Academy Mississauga
” Blyth Academy Mississauga offers lower teacher-student ratios, engaged teachers and administration, consistent communication to parents, diverse population and a supportive environment for our daughter to thrive academically. This campus is also situated in wonderful Port Credit which offers a balance of urban and suburban amenities. Additionally, our daughter was granted admission to her top University choices. We highly recommend if you are in the market for a boutique private school and want your child to have a productive and supportive educational and social experience. “
” It’s a great school! Our family has been with Blyth Academy since September 2020. We definitely made the right decision to send our daughter to Blyth for her high school education. We first joined Blyth Academy London for 2 years and then transferred her to Blyth Mississauga in Year 2022. I still recall my daughter’s happy face as she returned from her first day of high school. All of Blyth’s classes are unique, and students are able to take advantage of the small class sizes as they interact closely with their teachers and peers. My daughter easily made friends at Blyth thanks to the school’s welcoming and thoughtful student body and learning environment. Every day after school, my daughter eagerly tells me about her day, and I could feel that she enjoys being at school and taking her classes. Blyth’s flexible course schedule allows her to explore her interests at her own pace, especially as upper year courses are arranged in quadmesters. I often find that Blyth’s curriculums and the concepts taught in class are more in-depth compared to the Ministry of Ontario’s standard requirement, which lets students gain a deeper understanding of the concepts they learn. At Blyth, my daughter was able to take more than 2 courses per term, which helped her feel more challenged at school and be exposed to topics earlier than she would’ve anywhere else. In 9th Grade, she took 9 courses including AP Biology; in 10th grade, she took 12 courses including Grade 11 biology, chemistry, physics, and functions, and three Gr 12 courses (Physics, Data management, and International Business). Her math teacher, Mr. T, makes his class engaging while still challenging students to help them develop stronger logic and critical thinking skills. His lessons are well-organized and easy to follow–he is not only teaching math, but also teaching students how to think like a mathematician. My daughters’ science teachers, Ms. A.J. and Ms. Raj, are also very knowledgeable and skilled in their fields. They inspire their students to be curious and learn through applying concepts to the real world in every single lesson. Their teaching style feels similar to that of a science fair or seminar, making students in the class feel more like scholars. Discussions are often extended after students come back home. My daughter’s English teacher, Ms. Motz, is always very well prepared for her class, and her sense of humor makes studying literature more fun and engaging. Every student in her class is willing to make their best effort. Guidance Counselor Ms. Wilson is very calm and warm, and her door is always open to students whenever they need. She helps students not only with course selection, but also university application questions, study strategies and anxiety management. Blyth Mississauga invites multiples university admission officers to give updated information and answer students’ questions every year before application season on campus or on zoom. This school year, we were all finished OUAC applications before winter break. Blyth Mississauga’s courses are rigorous. With these passionate teachers, students have always been encouraged to take the challenges with multiple levels of support whenever needed. Blyth’s faculty care about their students very much. Principal Catania’s kindness and inspirational personality influences students in all the right ways. Their commitment to helping students shine ensures student success. With Blyth’s flexible courses schedules, my daughter was able to graduate 1 year earlier from high school this year. Through Mr. T’s math clubs my daughter was able to stand out in multiple of the University of Waterloo’s CEMC math contests over the past few years. Blyth Mississauga also offers many extracurricular activities that let students explore their interests beyond the classroom, like DECA, Debate, Math Club, Yearbook Club, sports and arts competitions, leadership opportunities and more. I would highly recommend Blyth Academy for students who want to reach their full potential and have memorable high school experiences. “
” Blyth Academy Mississauga is an excellent private school where two of my children graduated from and one is currently attending. Blyth is a school where the students are the customers, and their learning success is a top priority to their teachers! There is a misconception that grades are bought at private schools. For Blyth, this is simply untrue. The grades that my children received are the results of the quick pace and in-depth learning. They are constantly on their toes in preparing for the weekly tests, quizzes, assignments, projects, etc. The students must be self-motivated and organized to be successful. Two of my children are now studying engineering in Waterloo and both have an overall average of about 85%. They have been able to build their university learning upon the strong foundation from Blyth. The teachers are very dedicated to ensuring the students are learning and successful. After-hour questions are always answered promptly. This does not happen when my children were in public school. Special shout-out to Mr. Halime, Mr. Smrczek, and Mr. Hassan for creating an environment where learning is fun and not feared! You are the gold standards for teachers! Blyth Academy in Mississauga is led by the caring principal Ms. Zourntos. Any questions or concerns are always responded to quickly and she takes an interest with all the students. For me, Blyth is not just a school but a learning community that takes an active interest in and supports the learning of my children. “
” This was our daughter’s first year at Blyth and first year of high school. Coming from a larger setting, she was gradually losing the confidence that she was a good student just like the rest of her peers. She was falling behind, causing tremendous stress for her. From her first semester at Blyth, her teachers had her fully engaged and met her exactly where she was at. Her confidence is back, she enjoys going to school everyday and her marks have markedly improved because of the caring and diligent teaching staff she is privileged to work with. We are glad to have made the move to Blyth and look forward to watching her shine throughout high school and be fully prepared for post-secondary. “
